I am Mate Malashkhia, a fifth year PhD candidate in Economics at Washington University in St. Louis. 

My research lies at the intersection of Economics and Political Science. While in my research, I primarily use formal models, I also employ quantitative methods and empirical analysis. 

One strand of my work examines the politics of non-democracies, with a particular focus on protests. Another studies how the interplay between a party's political incentives and firms' strategic responses affects welfare.
